Interactions Among Multiple Medications Can Cause Health Risks
It is important to talk with your doctor about possible drug interactions if you are taking multiple medications or additional supplements. It is also important that doctors inquire about the medications/supplements you are taking and specifically advise you about the risks of drug interactions. The Institute for Safe Medication Practices now has a website to allow patients to check for potentially dangerous medication interactions. It can be found at www.consumermedsafety.org.
If you have been injured as a result of a drug interaction, you may have a medical malpractice claim and should speak to an experienced medical malpractice attorney.

Merry Christmas from Hardesty, Tyde, Green & Ashton
Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there.
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads.
And mamma in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap.
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tinny reindeer.
With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!
"Now Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! On, Cupid! on, on Donner and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!"
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky.
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of Toys, and St Nicholas too.
And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the chimney St Nicholas came with a bound.
He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot.
A bundle of Toys he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler, just opening his pack.
His eyes-how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow.
The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath.
He had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook when he laughed, like a bowlful of jelly!
He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself!
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings, then turned with a jerk.
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose!
He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ‘ere he drove out of sight,
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!"

Fireplace Safety
Before lighting any fire, remove all greens, boughs, papers, and other decorations from fireplace area. Check to see that the flue is open.
Use care with "fire salts," which produce colored flames when thrown on wood fires. They contain heavy metals that can cause intense gastrointestinal irritation and vomiting if eaten. Keep them away from children.
Do not burn wrapping papers in the fireplace. A flash fire may result as wrappings ignite suddenly and burn intensely.
Our firm wishes you a safe holiday season.

Low Impact Car Accidents Often Cause High Level Injury
The important thing to remember is that when low speed impacts occur, lack of damage on a car's external appearance may not reflect the true damage. When investigating these types of accidents, one must look at the bumper isolation systems and the support structure of the vehicle for damage that could have occurred. The bumper isolation system is designed to protect the vehicles safety systems, such as the front and rear lights. The isolation system is not designed to prevent visible vehicle damage. Today's passenger cars, not trucks and SUVs, are required to have a bumper isolation system.
The assessment of a low speed vehicle impact accident also requires the inspection of both accident vehicles. It is very difficult to assess the impact forces from photographs or looking at the vehicles after they have been repaired. The direction and magnitude of the forces, on the occupant can be compared to the injuries to determine if they are consistent with the accident scenario. If you have suffered serious injury recently from a low impact crash please contact us.

Traffic Fatalities
The US Transportation Secretary says that there were 41,059 motor vehicle-related deaths in 2007—the lowest number of traffic fatalities/per year since 1992—and that 2.49 million people sustained injuries in highway accidents.
The decline in overall deaths is attributed to safer vehicles, law enforcement measures, and the federal government’s efforts to prevent auto accidents. Though the total number of traffic fatalities dropped, an increase in motorcycle fatalities was noted accounting for 13% of all traffic fatalities last year. The number of injured motorcycle victims also increased.
The number of pedestrian deaths decreased while the number of pedestrian injury victims increased.
If you or a loved one has been injured by negligent driver contact Hardesty, Tyde, Green and Ashton for a free consultation.
